Who We Are
Our passion and purpose is to Love God and Love People. This is based on Jesus' answer to the question: What is the greatest commandment?
Mark 12:28-31 says: Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, “Which is the first commandment of all?” Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
We feel that church should be a place where you experience the love of God and the love of His people.
One Church Buchanan is a unique place. As we seek to Love Him and His people, we also believe that Christ desires for His followers be ONE! In the Gospel of John (John 17:21), Jesus' prayer is that we would come to complete unity. As impossible as that may seem, we are committed to making that a reality here at One Church Buchanan.
We are a family church where many "ones" come together and make a family. We are all different, with different pasts, places, and church experiences. Some good and some not so good, but through our journey, we've come to understand the importance of unity and family in our service to God

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the authoritative guide for our lives. (2 Timothy 3:16 & Psalm 119:105)
We believe that God the Father is our Creator and the loving sustainer of all life. He is our ultimate authority, and He directs all things according to His purpose.
He is one God that has eternally existed in three persons that are equal: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. (Colossians 1:16 & Matthew 3:13-17)
We believe that Jesus is the Son of God. He was born of a virgin, lived without sin, died on a cross to save us from our sins, and was resurrected from death to life after three days in the tomb. (John 3:16, 1 John 5:12 & 1 Corinthians 15:1-8)
We believe the Holy Spirit executes the will of God in this world through humanity by leading, guiding, filling, teaching, and convicting. The Holy Spirit equips believers upon conversion by giving us gifts to be used for the building up of the church and by bearing fruit through our lives. (Acts 1:18, John 15:26, John 16:13, & 1 Corinthians 12)
We believe the church is the body of believers who are disciples of Jesus throughout the world. The purpose of the local church is to help people have a relationship with God, grow deep in their faith, and go serve & love humanity. (Acts 2:42-47, Matthew 28:16-20, & Ephesians 4:1-16)
We believe that salvation is God’s free gift to us, and we have the choice to accept or deny that free gift. We cannot earn our way into Heaven, because we are all sinners, which separates us from God. But, God chose to give us grace from that sin by sending His son Jesus to become a sacrifice in replacement for our sins…which makes him our Savior. And that is the Good News of the Gospel! (Romans 10:9, Acts 2:38, & Galatians 3:27)
We believe that God has a plan for humanity. We are all sinners without hope when we are apart from God. But…God loves us and so, He sent His very own Son as the only sufficient sacrifice for our sin. The Bible teaches that in order to receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we respond to Him by believing in Jesus, confessing that He is Lord, repenting of our sin, and being baptized. (Luke 24:45-47, Acts 2:38, Romans 6:1-7, Romans 10:9, & 2 Peter 3:9)
We believe that baptism is our response to Christ which unites us with His death and resurrection. We want to be like Jesus and do what He asks of us, so we practice baptism by full immersion just like Him. (Romans 6:1-6, Matthew 3:16, Matthew 28:19, & Matthew 3:11)
